Simple Acts of Kindness
It’s amazing how a simple, small act of kindness makes people feel. Let me tell you a story:
When my children were little I was into buying presents and filling the space underneath the tree. You could say that giving gifts was one of my love languages. Jump ahead many years later and I realized that my time spent with family participating in fun activities was a better gift than buying presents. Now that my children are adults, they don’t talk about the toys I bought them. They say things like, “Remember when you dressed up like a teenager to escort us around the mall without anyone knowing we had a chaperon?” Another one was, “All that time working with you in the kitchen made me love cooking,” or “Now that I’m older, I’m so glad I spent time working with you at The Busy Woman. It taught me a ton of things about my business.”
Now that they all live out of the house, sending cards allows me to say what I feel and send a hug in the mail. In addition, the recent responses from sending cards and gifts to friends and other family members has been incredible.
Do you like to receive cards and gifts in the mail? I know I sure do!
During the 2014 holidays, a huge box came via UPS. I had “no idea” that a gift was coming my way. Just bringing the large box inside had me reeling with excitement. I can’t describe the feelings of joy and love that I felt when I opened it! It was exhilarating and YUMMY!!!
Another story: My parents are always telling me not to buy them anything for special occasions. In 2013 I sent my dad brownies. He loved them so much that I’m allowed to send him brownies from Mailbox Power for his birthday every year. Mom’s the same way, only her love is of caramel.
Since mid-2013 I’ve been sending tons of cards. I’m having a blast and making people feel good at the same time. Care to join me?

I’m trying to send more cards….there’s something so personal and thoughtful about receiving something in the mail such as a thoughtful card. It can truly be a ministry.
